"UKIP warned during the election campaign that the EU Commission was preparing to use the Med Migration crisis to ambush member nation states with their plans for a common asylum policy (click to see). Far from negotiating in good faith on the free movement of people with the new British government, the Commission is determined to gain greater control of migration matters within the European Union. Just as we predicted the Prime Minister finds himself on the back foot on matters of asylum before he even gets to the starting line for discussions on changes to UK EU membership which he then wants to put to the British people in a Referendum.
"Dispersing Med Migrants across member states will only encourage more economic refugees from Africa and beyond to try to make the trip. For Britain this is a national security issue. Notwithstanding the fact that ISIS have announced they will infiltrate these asylum seekers with their own Jihadists, Britain is by far the destination that most economic migrants and their families want to get to in order to start new lives. By enticing even more to make the trip by overriding Britain's asylum rules and giving residence to economic migrants, Britain's borders will come under even more pressure. As we have repeatedly said the solution to Med Migration is to reduce the 'pull' factor of Europe as a destination."
