Nick Clegg has today backed plans to impose tighter rules on immigrant's access to the welfare system. Woolfe, UKIP's Migration spokesman, stated, "this is all just another example of how UKIP are setting the political agenda. Now even Clegg is saying we should curb benefit tourism, you couldn't make it up. It is a vain attempt to claw back some political ground on UKIP but it is too late, the British people simply do not trust the three old parties on immigration anymore."
Woolfe continues, "According to EU law there is a requirement for non-discrimination, so how do Clegg, Cameron and co plan to get around treating UK nationals and non-UK nationals differently? For this new system to work whilst we remain members of the EU, there would have to be radical change to the fundamentals of our benefit system, something which would take years."
